Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a procedure used to treat infections or damage inside the tooth. This procedure is usually performed for infected teeth that present with symptoms such as toothache, sensitivity or swelling. During root canal treatment, the inside of the tooth (pulp) is cleaned, disinfected, filled with filling material and then sealed with a protective coating. This procedure prevents tooth extraction and preserves the natural structure of the tooth. After root canal treatment, the patient can return to normal dental function and the symptoms of pain and infection usually disappear.
